Red pine trees are a coniferous evergreen that grows tall and straight in the most northeastern regions of North America. It is a relatively fast growing tree in the first 60 to 70 years of its life and its needles are dark green. It thrives in light, sandy and well-drained soils that are relatively low in nutrients. It does not tolerate shaded or urban conditions very well.
